Privacy Policy

What's For Dinner Tonight · Last updated May 31, 2026

What's For Dinner Tonight is built to respect your privacy. The short version: your recipes and pantry live on your device, we don't run ads or trackers, and we never sell your data. The details are below.

What stays on your device

Your meals, pantry ingredients, tags, notes, and cooking history are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData. This information never leaves your device except as described in the AI Features section below. There is no account to create and no sign-in.

AI features (optional)

The app's AI features — scanning a photo to identify ingredients, and generating meal ideas — only run if you choose to use them. There are two ways to use them:

Photos you scan are used solely to identify ingredients and are not retained by us.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat, our subscription infrastructure provider. We receive your subscription status (active or expired, and which tier) associated with an anonymous identifier. We do not receive your name, email address, or payment details — Apple handles all billing.

What we don't do

Data deletion

Because your content lives on your device, deleting the app removes your recipes, pantry, and history. To cancel a subscription, use Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
